Two wheels that lead corporate culture, an expert of ‘legal affairs’ and ‘human resources affairs’

General Manager Jae Joon Choi joined ILJIN on July 24, 2000 as an experience employee. Since then, he has been leading and witnessing ILJIN transform into a first-class enterprise of the 21st century. He was relocated to ILJIN Holdings as HR team’s general manager in 2009 while he worked in ILJIN Group Legal Affairs team in Management Planning Office. He always had a profound interest in executives and employee communications. Also, his wish to work in a non-legal affairs related field was reflected during personnel transfers between affiliates.

ILJIN Holdings is a pure holding company which helps subsidiary companies to focus their competencies on their unique business so that they can grow. I annually create key performance indicator (KPI) on subsidiary companies’ executives, evaluate outcomes. I also am in charge of salary raises of subsidiary companies, promotion and general human resources affairs of ILJIN Holdings.

Why is HR important?

There is a saying, “Personnel affairs mean everything.” General affairs in the field of HR include excavating core talents on top of everything I’ve mentioned earlier. This means to give motivation to the core talents, recruit new talents so that a corporate can grow. This works not only gives me a big responsibility, but also a big reward.

Can you define corporate culture of ILJIN Holdings in one letter?

‘P’! for passion. ILJIN’s concept of talent is ‘activeness’. No one works passively. Everyone has a chance to do what he or she wishes with passion in ILJIN. Furthermore, ILJIN has smaller operational members structures which create a culture of understanding and respect built upon the intimacy and connectedness.
