‘Basecamp of life’, ILJIN Electric

Jang Ho grew up in Mapo where has always felt like basecamp. He was familiar with the ILJIN Group headquarters he met on his way to school. When he was job hunting, his father recommended ILJIN Group. Unlike other corporations, at ILJIN, one can experience all fields of electrics and he was sure that ILJIN had many potentials. And the landmark of Mapo became his life’s basecamp.

What kind of company is ILJIN Electric?

ILJIN Electric has a core potential in the field of electrics and mechanics related to part materials. These products are not easily tangible but they play key roles in substations and power transmission in order to supply electricity to residential areas, corporation and facilities.

What is your job description?

I'm in the division of Local Sales Team, mainly am in charge of overseas export project sales targeting domestic EPC companies. When domestic EPC companies win contracts for oversea substations and power transmission project, we provide & construct ILJIN's cables as vendors to these EPC companies.

Can you provide more details of the job for those who wish to join this field?

I think our tasks can be divided into two sections. Before and after being a vendor for EPC companies, and after supplying our products. First, prior to winning a contract, we make ourselves known to EPC companies through sales. Afterwards, by receiving a RFQ (Request For Quotation), we have an opportunity to provide quotation. An EPC company will then make a bid with collected quotations and this process can take from 6 months to two years of time. After an EPC company wins a contract, providers of the EPC company will make a bid. Once we win the final contract, the headquarters will send in various authorization requests and the actual production will take in place after everything is authorized. After supplying, we will make building manual and conduct cable construction at overseas location.All the steps in the process, sales team is in charge of basic tasks such as work management, payment request and bill management.

  • 1. Cellular phoneIt is my number one item in sales which keeps track of meeting, manages schedules.
  • 2. WatchMeeting with the client is based on trust. Time commitment is a matter of trust. So I have a habit of planning my schedule according to time.
  • 3. CarMeeting in person can strengthen the relationship with clients. A vehicle is a tool that allows me to meet up with clients promptly.
