‘Drum & ERP’
‘Balance’ between work and life,
created by autonomy and activeness
Like the drum which is not noticeable but is essential in the band,
Elecfoil is the key material in electronic devices despite its imperceptibility!
Story of ILJIN Materials from Jung, Young Soo, the subsection chief of Finance & Account team.
Enjoy! As if work is life, life is work
Young Soo's motto is ' Enjoying life.' To fulfill this goal, his chose to keep the 'work and life balance.' That is why he never stopped playing badminton and drum in the band after joining the company in March, 2011. He believes the autonomous corporate culture allowed him to keep the balance between work and life.
'ILJIN Materials' is the drum!
What's a band like without the drum? It will be dull like a flat beer. The drum does not get the spotlight but it is essential. ILJIN Material does not produce consumer goods and it is not well known to the public, however, it produces key materials for the production of electronic devices.
What is the key material produced by ILJIN Materials and what is it used for?
ILJIN Materials produces Elecfoil, a part used in circuit board of electronic devices which allows electric flow. All electronic devices such as smartphones, televisions, and refrigerators have circuit board inside. When producing the circuit board, after designing the circuit for electric flow, attach and melt a very thin copper foil. Then, only copper materials are left in the circuit and this is called the elecfoil.
Recently, elecfoil is catching on as a key material in a secondary cell battery for electric vehicles.
ILJIN Materials marks the second in the field of global elecfoil market share, the first in the specialized elecfoil field of secondary cell battery.
What is your job description?
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) operation is my biggest task. I manage resource operations from the purchase for production, production and sales. All of the logistics and changes in account of ILJIN Materials are computerized. It is very rewarding since I maximize data convenience.
Have your thoughts of the company changed after working?
I completed my undergraduate studies in Iksan, therefore, I've always known ILJIN Materials’ headquarters was located in Iksan. Other than this simple fact, I didn't know much about this company. When I was in the job search, I found out that ILJIN Materials was the leader in its field and has localized the production of key compartment materials which were relied heavily upon Japan. I did not hesitate further in applying.
After I joined ILJIN Materials, more surprises captured me. First of all, our technology entry barrier is very high. No one can easily mimic us. Therefore, we are in the lead of the domestic and international markets. I still remember how surprised I got when my cellphone camera was covered with a sticker at the gate to prevent taking pictures of any kinds. Now it seems logical to me.
