The use of ultra-light, ultra-hard carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) for coating CVD diamonds is increasing in various fields including airplanes, automobiles, wind power, and medical industries, thereby heightening the demand for a more durable and more precise equipment to process the material.

CVD diamonds are almost as hard as natural diamonds and can be used for various equipments, but there might be issues regarding bonding power with cemented materials and the disfiguration of material after coating. ILJIN Diamonds is currently developing a material that has excellent bonding characteristics with the coating layer while at the same time can minimize disfiguration of the material.

Diamond coating equipment can increase performance by at least 5 times compared to conventional cementing tools and can also be used in the shaping of various equipments. It is therefore expected that it will be used further to manufacture various composite materials including not only CFRP but also graphite and aluminum among others.
